A rare surviving intact windmill…
***
HISTORY: This remarkable example of milling architecture was built in the 17th century. It consists of a granite ashlar tower which flares outwards halfway up to accommodate the stones and machinery. The mill operated continuously until 1957 when milling of flour stopped. It has since sat derelict but remarkably intact. The only things missing are the stone shroudings and grain hoppers and flour hoppers. Other than that, it is intact. It sat derelict until the last year or two when locals began efforts to preserve it. Unfortunately those efforts are taking a while!

THE EXPLORE: My friend Landie_Man and I turned up after doing another explore nearby as I had checked my map to see what pins I had. I was very glad to have found this place as it was one of the best mills I have ever explored. Coincidentally it was my first windmill too! Enjoy the photos.
