Flambards Amusement Park
February 2025 | England | Demolition Ongoing
Bit of a break thanks to some issues with landlords and such…! But back into exploring with a cracker. Flambards Theme Park was founded in 1976 as the Cornwall Aero Park by Douglas Kingsford Hale MBE. The park’s final season was 2024, with the closure announced on 4 November 2024. In 1984, “Britain in the Blitz,” a mock-up of a bomb-hit street during World War II, was opened. By 1990, the park had grown and was renamed “The Flambards Experience.” Early rides featured at the theme park included the Dragon Coaster, the Canyon River Log Flume, Paddle Boats, and the hype glide.
For the 2007 season, three rides were added: The Rocking Tug, The Carousel, and The Space Shuttle. For the 2008 season, the Cornish Mine Train ride was added and the War of the Worlds paintball game was introduced. 2009 saw no major additions to the park, however the field housing the helipad was sold late in the season to Sainsbury’s where they built a supermarket. The 2020-2023 era affected Flambards deeply and it struggled to continue operating. In 2024, four of its major rides were retired and then only a few months later the whole park closed.
The Explore:
A rainy and dreary February morning… not the most ideal of days for exploring but I still decided to go given the fact that I had never been to a theme park, let alone explored one. Access was fairly easy, and not much security in sight. However there are loads of cameras so those required some careful skulking… only to realise they were operational cameras and that crawling through brambles to evade them was rather pointless. Oh well! I’m honestly really pleased with these snaps. Theme parks that are empty give me the creeps.
